2 July 2010 - Entente Cordiale!
On a flying visit to Burford, part of his Witney constituency, Prime Minister David Cameron congratulated Jean-Marie Lauzier and his wife Clare, new owners of the Bull Hotel in Burford's High Street. The occasion was the celebration of the Bull's fourth centenary, 400 years after it first opened as a coaching inn in 1610.
Mr Lauzier said: "We are honoured that, in the middle of his national and international responsibilities, Mr Cameron still finds time to care for the members of his constituency."
The Bull, a historic building with a starred listing, has recently undergone a complete restoration and refurbishment and Frenchman Mr Lauzier and his English wife Clare plan to restore it as a high class hotel and gourmet restaurant.
Burford, a medieval market town, has been listed by the American Forbes magazine as one of the six most idyllic places to live in Europe.
